End of Term Four Activities

  • PDF

For the last week of term for 2011, Nepean Wolves celebrated with Ninjabreadmen, Santa hats and a whole lot of fun!

Telaan looks a bit worried about Senior Instructor Dave's approach for board breaking.

Board breaking ended with a heap of laughter for the Thursday Wolf Pack's final class of the year as Harrison got a little help from Ryan and Blake as he prepared for Senior Instructor Dave's kick.

Team leaders Megan and Rebecca got into the festive spirit to keep the Thursday Wolf Pack amused.

The Tuesday night sports class brushed up on their flying sidekicks, blurring their way through their last class of the year.

And finally a Christmas message from Senior Instructor Dave:

Sue & I extend to all our students, parents and carers very best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We would like to thank you all for your support and hard training throughout 2011. We look forward to seeing you back, refreshed and invigorated, in 2012. Classes start week beginning January 30.

Nepean Wolves Ninjabreadmen

Get 540'ed in the tastebuds with this ginger ninja! Sue and Instructor Dave did a marvelous job making these for the last week of Term (Sue did the baking, Dave did the icing!) we thought we'd share the recipe on the site so you can try this at home.

Heat your oven to about 175 degrees (160 if fan forced).

2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg,
3/4 cup molasses (or golden syrup)
3 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg then the molasses. Stir in the flour and spices.
Wrap in gladwrap and chill for a couple of hours.
Work with a quarter of the dough at a time to roll to about 1cm thickness – rolling the
dough between layers of glad wrap or baking paper makes this much easier – use cookie
cutters  to cut out your shapes. Put them on a
baking tray lined with baking paper, leaving a little room between each shape to allow for
spreading. Cook in a moderate oven (175 degrees) for 10 minutes – they should be just
lightly browned). When they've cooled completely, use royal icing or similar to decorate.

If you were wondering where you can purchase the Ninjabread men cutters, you can find plenty of sellers on eBay that will range in price from $15.00 to $20.00, but they have been sold in HOME at Westfield Penrith Plaza. You could also try Socrates and Typo if HOME doesn't have them.
